Sail Scan LLC ("SailScan," "we," "us," or "our") operates the SailScan mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and an encrypted password. Authentication is handled securely through Supabase.
• Sail Images: When you use the scan feature, you provide photographs of sails from your device camera or photo library. These images are transmitted to our analysis servers for processing.
• Scan Data: The results of sail analysis, including stripe positions, camber depth, draft position, twist measurements, and confidence scores, are stored in association with your account.
• Device Information: We may collect basic device information such as device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers for the purpose of app functionality and crash reporting.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the App
• Process and analyse your sail images using AI-powered computer vision
• Store your scan history so you can review past analyses
• Create and manage your user account
• Communicate with you about your account or the App
• Improve the accuracy of our sail analysis algorithms
• Monitor and analyse usage trends to improve the user experience

3. How We Process Sail Images

When you submit a sail photograph for analysis, the image is sent to our secure backend servers hosted on Railway. The image is processed using AI vision models to detect sail stripe positions and calculate shape metrics. Images may be temporarily stored during processing but are not retained indefinitely on our servers. Processed scan results are stored in your account.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your account data and scan results are stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade security including encryption at rest and in transit, and row-level security policies that ensure you can only access your own data. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: We use third-party services (Supabase for authentication and database, Railway for backend hosting, OpenAI for image analysis) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality obligations.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for data processing at any time

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and scan data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.

The App is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
